42itousToday I worked on two playing-card costumes for an Alice In Wonderland-themed party. The designer asked me to paint a pair of shoes black for ones of the costumes.
This struck me as funny because it reminded me of the scene in Alice where the gardeners (who are playing cards) are painting the roses in the garden because they are white and the Red Queen only likes red roses. But the costume designer admitted that she hasn't actually read the books.

Date: 2010-07-22 04:25 am (UTC)When I was in highschool, a friend ended up painting a pair of her black character shoes white. The pair was old and she had a second pair that was newer and the director had decided that her character really should be wearing white shoes with a particular costume....
