Intriguing. Does the chocolate-tomato cake taste like tomatoes, or is it like zucchini bread in that it hides the secret ingredient? Your link didn't work, btw.
The chocolate overwhelms the tomato in the cooked product. The dough still tastes like tomatoes, enough that Jocelyn didn't like the dough but likes the cake. Perry, knowing there are tomatoes in it, refuses to even taste it.
*tries to nom the tomatoes* ow.. there's a monitor screen in the way!
I got two heirloom tomatoes from the farmers market yesterday - a "mortgage lifter" and a "pineapple". I ate the pineapple - yum!! I really wanted to get one of the kind like the one in your picture.
I really want to have a tomato party where I get 2 or 3 of each kind of heirloom tomato and cut them up and everyone can try each kind and get an idea of which ones they like!
I bought a Mortgage Lifter too! Kyle made dinner last night, fish fried with tomatoes. So all the tomatoes sort of got mixed together and I don't know which was which.
I think your idea is brilliant! I know people who have an apple-tasting party every year. I know which apples I like best (Macouns), but I don't know about tomatoes. Well, I love the yellow cherry tomatoes that my grandmother grows (candy!), but it's harder for me to love big tomatoes.
