Or is there some new ski fashion that I'm not aware of?? Actually, now that I think of it, does something that is normally considered footwear stop being considered footwear if it's not worn on the foot? Like, if I put an earring back on a flip-flop and dangle it from my ear, or if I buckle the strap of my wedgie under my chin and wear it as a hat - are they still footwear?

I do believe that skis detach, and you can't really use skis without a pair of ski boots.
