I'd never heard of that, but having glanced at the wikipedia page for it, I see what you mean. That's a thing that log-cabin quilts do of necessity, have a center square that doesn't line up with the diagonal lines. Traditionally, that would have been a contrasting color, usually bright red for some reason:

But in my design I wanted to see if I could trick the eye by using something halfway in between the black and the light blue.
