Nah: this is at a house where we had brunch last weekend, friends of my grandparents. The lady of the house said that their architect plans a surprise for every client, which in this case was the blue risers. There are other blue accents in the house, so they are happy with the surprise.
I love it! I have been considering our stairs lately. I pulled one bit of rug off the stairs to discover the rung I uncovered is hideous and split. I have lacked the gumption to pull the rest of the rug off those stairs, but judging from the bit I did uncover the only way to handle these stairs is going to be patching the holes and then painting them. I was thinking about white stairs and colored risers.
