I could use some more blue jeans (or black, or green, or whatever) for sewing projects. I'm looking for fabric that's still in good shape but is part of a garment that's no longer usable -- if the crotch or knees have worn through but the backs of the legs are intact, I can use them. (If the jeans are wearable but you don't want them, then donate them to someone who will wear them!) Please make sure the jeans are clean -- although if they have paint on them I may still be able to use them. Comment here if you have jeans for me, and I'll make plans to collect them.

I don't have anything at the moment, but I'll keep an eye out when I'm organizing.

::ponders the cost of sending jeans from Durham::

When do you need them by? I might be able to send a few pairs with [livejournal.com profile] sunspiral when he visits. This would be mid-March before he got back to MA. I'm actually not sure if J has any spare holy jeans, but if waiting until mid-March to get them isn't a problem, I'll ask him.

:) I don't think I'll have time to start work on this quilt very soon... however! I know J's jeans, and in my experience he wears them out so thoroughly that there's very little fabric strong enough to use in a quilt. I expect I'll be able to find enough denim around here that I don't need to import it. :) Thank you for the offer anyhow. *hug*

sweet! At some point when my brain recovers from Mystery Hunt I would like to make plans to stop by and pick them up.

I have a couple of pairs with worn/ripped thighs... I keep thinking I should or will patch them eventually, but perhaps I should face reality. :-) I'll set them aside for you.

Thanks! I've been trying to figure out whether it's worthwhile asking people to bring jeans to Arisia, since I'll be stopping in briefly when my brain is tired of puzzles... but you probably already have enough stuff to schlep. Possibly Diesel some week?

Diesel might be moderately more predictable. :-) Besides, one of the pairs I just wore again (over longjohns and under skirt makes rips less of an issue), so I might expect to re-launder those... and I'll take a little extra time to look through my other piles of giveaway clothes anyway.

See you soon, anyway! Happy Hunting!

I have a whole bunch from before I stopped wearing pants. So they're old, but they're denim and you're more than welcome to cut them up and do whatever you want with them.

Some of them might be slightly holey.

Thanks! I was going to suggest you bring them to Arisia, but I have no idea how or where we could arrange to meet (or have you leave them for me), since I will only be stopping in when my brain is too full of Mystery Hunt, and that's unpredictable. We'll figure out a different plan, but not until after said brain recovers from said weekend. :)

Hi there martha...
Are you still looking for jeans... I recently modified a pair beyond usability (ie too tight, sigh) and I have realized that I am now officially collecting worn out jeans, 'cause one pair is useful, but two is just takin' up space.
Silly to send them to Boston, perhaps, but the one pair is fabric-wise good, just beyond normal jean usage.

Hi Laura!
Thanks for thinking of me -- I am still idly collecting denim, although I just finished the quilt top that I was planning when I made this request. However, getting them to Boston does seem to defeat the purpose of recycling them, so I say donate them to a thrift store there.

How's life? Still enjoying your work?
