I love paper birch! :D I remember when first i saw a paper birch forest in Maine -- i was in total awe at the wonder of it. That's a variety of birch that grows not well down here where i live -- they require more Winter than we get here. We had a tiny one in our front yard growing up. It died through the course of three ice storms -- two parts when cars slid into it, the third i think just from the damage of the shattering of the other two major branches.

I've always loved these. This one was interesting in that these three trunks all grew from one main trunk at ground level.
