I want to stage it with beach sand, a blue lagoon, and tiny sunbathers in the background. And I wish I could remember the photography trick that makes a diorama look like a landscape -- probably I don't have the right lens.

Ha! I was thinking similar, actually. Well, except for the tilt-shift photography, since I only use a point-n-shoot. :) But my sister visited recently and was calling them kale palm trees. I think just some sand and a miniature beach chair would work well.

Er, I guess you want the opposite of tilt-shift, to make it look like a real landscape.
