Very interesting. What are they doing with the house?

Other than pouring a new foundation for it, I've no idea. I'm very curious to see what it winds up being. I'm hoping for a bed-and-breakfast... but I think a multi-million-dollar private residence is probably more likely.

yes, i've been watching it over the past year. i am very baffled as to what exactly they have accomplished that was worth moving AN ENTIRE HOUSE about 20 feet over. that's not cheap. why did it need to be there and not on the other side? is it a historically protected building?
it's all very mysterious.

Hunh - hadn't realized they'd also moved it 20 feet. I'll look again next time I go past, but it sounds like they're splitting the parcel of land and building a second house. Which would totally be worth the cost of moving it over, especially right there.

It's been awesome to watch in bits and pieces, that's for sure.

yeah, i'm pretty sure the foundation to the left is where the house used to be.
i understand why you'd want to split the parcel! but it doesn't look like they've gained a lot more space? so why move THAT house over, rather than building two new ones, or building a new one where you've moved the old one to?

The thing that puzzles me is that there isn't enough room now between house and garage to maneuver a car. Maybe they'll demolish the garage, since it has no historic significance.... and put parking under the house, like so many others in Arlington.

yeah it's all a little baffling.

There might be some arcane zoning regulation that says you can't have more than N buildings on a parcel of Z size? So 2 is okay but 3 would be right out.

But as to the why not just build a new house where the old house is now sitting, I dunno..

Maybe they're just redoing the foundation and then will move the house right back where it started.

Eeee!! It was fun for Rose and me to cheer you from the sidelines. Though Rose couldn't understand why you weren't taking the picture of HER.

If I'm looking at the right house.. then, looking at Google Street View, there was a sign out front saying "Arlington Rest Home" - it looks like it was being used as a residential facility?
