The red plastic looks like a slide at a park. Not sure what the hashtag screen shadow is.

You got it! Playground structures have perforated floors to let rain through, and to make interesting shadows.

I don't see that shape of hole very often, though. Usually they're more elliptical. And the hashtag shape is strange, and wider than the usual non-perforated bits. Maybe I'm just used to West Coast playgrounds?

Now that you've got me looking at it, it strikes me as odd that some of the groups of holes have 11 and some have 13. Maybe it's like the fake towns cartographers include so they can catch copyright infringers...
