That's so neat that you do this. I'll have to look at it over the weekend.

Ok, so I didn't make it in time for the weekend. But what a really great post. I'm sorry that I didn't do these when we lived in Durham; I should have taken your advice. Posts from there would be much more interesting than from here. Then again, I could have posted when we lived where there were signs warning of Amish horse-drawn buggies on the roads and farms and cows everywhere. Meh.

I remember you suggesting that I do a photoessay that includes dressmaking. I just might, someday.

Also WEE BABYFEET.

you appear to have more metadata than data in this (Costume.

(yes, my phone autocorrected "post" to "(Costume." no idea why)

The "go here to vote for this" comment at the bottom of these always rankles me a bit. I guess that's something that community does, but I imagine it's not why you post there.

Also, mmmm Za.

Huh, I'm so used to seeing that, it didn't occur to me that it would strike someone as weird. But yeah, I get that.

My main reason for doing these is that I love having them to look back on (and if it weren't for the LJ community, I wouldn't do them). But I have to admit it does give me a little thrill when I find that people have voted for mine. There's a more frequent poster to the community, [livejournal.com profile] spryng whose photography is better than everyone else's by leaps and bounds... but there are so many good stories in people's days, and I especially like the ones from faraway countries and climates. The thing about the voting is that it gives the reader a little push to read these *now* and not "when I have some down time," and it gives the poster an added impetus to try harder to tell the story well (or tell it at all).
