a rainbow quilt with curves

I made this quilt for my daughter, using fabric contributed by a couple dozen friends and family members (in addition to fabrics I had left over from countless other projects).

It's lovely. As are you, and as is your daughter. So it's fitting.

I love you quilts and your pictures of them, but this one truly knocked my socks off. Absolutely astoundingly beautiful!

Thank you so much! This one felt like a kind of breakthrough, like I'm now making quilts at a more sophisticated level than I was a year ago.

zomg, pretty!!

At some point, I want to talk about a quilt (or two), and this reminds me how much I want to not lose track of it, just can't do it this month.

I would love to make a quilt (or two) for you! Now that I know I can find an hour here and there to work on things, I'd be happy to talk with you about it when you're settled in and have braincells for things other than unpacking. :)

This is so incredibly awesome, and that's not even taking into account the fact that you can manage to quilt while being a parent!

Thank you -- but as to that last part, I have a little secret: this one was already all pieced together and backed before Rose was born, and it's taken me five months to quilt it, sign it, and photograph it! But yes, it's true, her naptimes are the freedom I need to spend the occasional hour in the sewing room.

That's very pretty.

Since you didn't select the fabrics, the gradients came out amazingly well.

That is gorgeous!! (and, do I spot one of the swirly fabrics from our chuppah?). Jesse has decided, by the way, that since the heat wave is over he needs the quilt you made him on his bed again (I think it's probably still too warm for a quilt, but it doesn't seem to be causing problems with his sleep, so I'm not fighting him on it) :) He calls it the "Martha quilt that Martha made for me"

Yay! I'm so happy to hear when kids appreciate my quilts. Grownups too, but especially kids. :)

Yes, there are definitely a couple of fabrics from your chuppah in Rose's quilt.

The gradation on both background and chains is especially pleasing.

Thank you so much! I had this hanging in our room for a week or so between when I finished it and when I got around to photographing it, and I kept second-guessing the details of where I'd put certain colors, which was completely unproductive, so it's nice now to be able to look at the photo and remember that the illusion works and that's the important thing. :)
