If you'd photographed the other side of the room in that first photo you would have gotten the block and tackle set that I scared the crap out of myself to rig something like 10 years ago. Because the lift only went so high. And there was a solid 8 inch thick pipe with regularly spaced collars securing it to the brick right there. And the damned I-beam that I wanted to hang the block from was only another 6 feet up, just beyond my reach from the bucket of the lift....

That sounds like it falls into the category of "what doesn't kill you makes you stronger." Theater techie work makes for good "no shit, there I was" stories. :)
