mockup of Little Bear's quilt
This is a sketchy layout of a quilt I'm working on, with nothing sewn together yet. At this point it looks better viewed in thumbnail form:

The curves, of course, will look smoother once it's sewn together -- but also, the optical illusion will work better when I have a bunch more fabrics representing more tints and shades. If you happen to have any scraps of quilters' cotton you want to contribute, in saturated colors and relatively monochromatic, I'd appreciate them. Anything that's at least 3.5 inches is useful.

I've got a bunch of scrap cotton in saturate shades that would work for this quilt. We had been talking about having a sewing projects day anyways. And I happen to have both a serger and 2 regular sewing machines in the house right now. Shall we make plans to actually see each other sometime soon?

Yes! But my project isn't very portable (I really need to work on that, acquiring crafts that I can bring to other people's houses). Any chance you'd be willing to come to me, maybe after work sometime soon?

Of course I'd be willing to come to you! Thankfully, my project (the quarters dress I want to make again) is portable as are the quilting scraps. And hey, if I drive in and you want things you'll likely want to borrow from us a couple months into next year, I could always bring some of those as well.

Take a look at your calendar for sometime next week and let me know what the possibilities look like? So long as I plan ahead, I can swap school drop off and pick up with Halleyscomet so that I can stay in the area after work instead of needing to go pick up Hootie.

Yay! Would next Monday work?

And I have several working sewing machines, so you can pick and choose. :)

Let me find out whether Halleyscomet's gaming group is meeting next Monday? If it is then I won't be able to as I'll be spending the evening with Hootie. But if it's not....*grin*

Well, and if not next week, then maybe the week after.

That's super-fun. That's the kind of color-play that I like to do with watercolors.

Yeah -- I've always wanted to do something where the colors interact like this, but I guess I never had the right design, or never had enough different fabrics. :)

this looks amaaaaaaaaaaazing.

btw.. was at an event last night and a person mentioned they had materials they chose for a quilt, had gotten a little bit done, it's been 15 years and they don't think they will ever have the time to finish it, they are looking for someone they can pay to turn their dream quilt into a reality quilt. Is this something you would be interested in doing, and if so when would you be free to work on it? if you aren't interested in that type of project, do you know other quilters who might be? I can pass their contact info along to her..

Thank you!

It is something I could do in theory but right now I'm not taking on new projects, since my available time will become increasingly unpredictable as the winter progresses, and who knows whether Little Bear will afford me any sewing time to speak of in the spring/summer/next five years.
