There were two squirrels taking turns at the peanut plate, and the first time each came over, he took a moment to look at me as if to make sure that I (and the camera) didn't pose a threat. Our former downstairs neighbors used to feed the squirrels frequently, so they're fairly tame and trusting.

Try taking pictures of a pet rodent. Eventually they'll notice you're doing something, and the next thing you know, you have a nose in your lens.

Heh! Just like cats, babies, etc. Closeups of noses and eyes are prevalent in my photoshoots when I'm working with small creatures. :)
