Tower Records Suxor.

I like to shop at independent stores as much as I can, before I try chains or the Internet. Some weeks ago, I looked in various independent record stores for a certain CD before finally going to Tower Records. To my surprise, they didn't have it either. Tired and fed up, I had them special-order it. When they asked for my phone number, to notify me of the CD's arrival, I made them promise not to mention the title of the CD in the phone message, because it was supposed to be a surprise for my husband.

The next day, I found the same title online, ordered it, and received it in less than a week. I called Tower Records and asked them to cancel the original order.

Last night I came home and found a message on the machine from Tower Records. It mentioned the title of the album and, for the sake of redundant unnecessary information, the band. Now I have the perfect surprise gift, an anagram!, but it's no longer a surprise.

Not a huge deal, but. Tower Records Suxor. Shop at CDUniverse.com instead.

CDBaby is great, they just don't carry a band as mainstream as Eddie From Ohio.

...and that's saying something. But yes, cdbaby mostly carries material from people who don't have labels and who put out their own CDs. Although, honestly, I've had problems with CDUniverse too -- tried ordering a bunch of Kinks reissues from them, and half of them had gone out of stock without the website reflecting that, and I went through customer service hell trying to get it all sorted out. But that was a long time ago; maybe they've gotten it together since then.
