This is a rare occasion upon which I like a meme enough to meme it (filched from [livejournal.com profile] athene:

Do you remember the day you and I met? Tell me what you remember about it in a comment (or an email, if you'd prefer).

We met when you and [livejournal.com profile] galadhelsul and Cat were looking for apartments a couple summers ago. You were wearing really neat striped pants and a hat made out of the same fabric that you had made that day. You seemed friendly and nice. I think we looked at three apartments that day.

I may be making this up, but I think I remember looking in a window and seeing a bunch of babies in plexiglas cradles under blue lights. I guess one of them was you, but I don't remember which.

15+ plus years of beat up cars and scrabble

I've been told (by you and others) that we met at JCC when I was 9 or 10 or 11. I dont recall the exact time or the event in question. Was I picking my nose? That woulda been '89 or '90. I had yet to develop me keen sense of wit. I'm sure my first words to prolly included a shrill cry of "COOTIES"! I'm far more mature these days. Now I look a new girl square in the eye. Shake hands bravely. And Cry "DOUBLE COOTIES". And run far and fast.

I do recall and impish Marfta in and out of my life appearing at just the right moments.

Fav. meetings: (In random order)

In Dec. 2000 when I was home on leave from Basic Training you came to my parents house on Ivy. We talked for what seems like half the night. I was terrified to go back and you calmed my fears.

March 24th at Hope HS in 1997. You dodged the school security forces, found my classroom, and gave me a birthday present. I don't recall the gift but I know I liked it.

97 or 98. you loaned me 50 dollars in silver coin so that I could drive a 72 pickup to Long Island to see someone I was infatuated with. (What were you thinking! you oughta have bopped me on the head and cuffed me to a fence and doused me with buckets of cold water till I came to my senses!)

I never graduated from Classical HS. but I have a "special" hand made yearbook ... I 'm not sure but I suspect you had a hand in that.

All thru HS there was the Jerry, Kevin, Ariella, Mike, Peter, Emanuel, Ricca, and others crew. You were the one that always made sense... despite that we hardly listened to you... despite that I can not recall any time that you ever judged harshly or used the dreaded words: "I told you so" in a mean spirited way.

Those odd long drives to and from Smith in the fall of 98 spring of 99 to see first Marina in Worcester and you at Smith... long drives in a 72 pickup with a failing radio and busted heat. You being the highlight of the trip.

Seeing Romeo and Juliet at Trinity with you and Pete and the something I told you both under the stairs. :-) You were two of the first people I ever dared tell.

Endless movie nights, scrabble nights, "oh jeez what did you guys do now" nights.

The fact that you helped name my truck: "Mercutio."

So I can't say I recall the day we met but I sure have loved and enjoyed the 15 years since.

Twas me of course like you didnt know.

BTW. When I hike the AT this coming spring I will require a lucky fleece lined trail hat. I hear that you are the person to see 'bout such mystical things.

Will you have me walk to the mountain where mystical fleece trees grow?

You were the Amazing New Short-Term Housemate with whom [livejournal.com profile] kalessin was having sushi at Bluefin, when a bunch of us walked in. :-)

I remember.

It was at [Bad username or site: majordomo's @ livejournal.com] birthday party at the fish place near Alewife (see, the name of that place, on the other hand, escapes me, even though I passed it on my way to work every day for three years). From looking at the two of you when you talked, I decided that you were his girlfriend, and was very disappointed when someone (Ruben, I think), told me you weren't, because the two of you looked very cute together.

Now who's turned out to be close to truth -- me or Ruben, huh? :)

Now since when "majordomo" is a bad username?

Beats me ... maybe I'd better go sit in the corner.

Did you maybe tuck the apostrophe-s into the user tag?

Ah, poor Ruben! He wasn't the only one confused. Glad we got that confusion cleared up, eventually. :)

We didn't make it to that dinner cuz we were out west skiing... - however I do remember meeting you at a party over at S&L's place (before they moved to their new place).

You were taking a lot of feet pictures. Not sure if you guys were dating at that point... don't think you were... but I did happen to notice that you both were cozying up to each other :-)

Hmmm. I believe it was at an OPN at [livejournal.com profile] ceo and [livejournal.com profile] gosling's place, and you arrived later in the evening with Joelll. I remember you made some comment about microwaving something for two minutes and twenty-two seconds because that was easier than moving your finger from the '2' button to the '0' button for an even two minutes.

Oh, sure. You drew me a picture on your neighbor's Mac Plus and printed it out. It showed me with my long hair, and wearing a skirt (I was actually in jeans), but you used the best MacPaint pattern on the skirt (the one that looks like black bubbles) and I loved it.

I met you at Alf's treasure hunt. I remember you and your father did a cute version of "who's on first", based on confusing english and hebrew pronouns.

I first saw you at Mr. Bad User Name's party at Summer Shack. I heard about you from my wife the CIA agent, but I didn't get to meet you until you and 'domo came to visit me in the hospital to see if my head was going to explode, which I thought was quite brave of both of you. :) You brought crossword puzzles and we talked about the Berkshires, and it took me almost a full minute of conversation to understand that you two were either going to get married or the love waves radiating out from both of you were going to eventually set the atmosphere on fire and envelop all of humanity in a fiery doom. So I'm glad it all worked out. :)

:D

We'd been to a party on the north shore the day before, and on our way up there we passed an old farm with a pair of silos. I drew a little cartoon of a farm building floating in a river, and labeled it "In Seine, a Silo," and rather than looking at me like I was crazy, Kyle countered with a similarly abhorent pun.

The reason I think of this is, there was a row of identical Victorian triple-deckers across the street from the hospital where your cheek was being monitored for signs of impending explosion. These houses all had turrets, but had been vinyl-sided to within an inch of their lives. Of course, the only way to vinyl-side a turret is to install the siding vertically, which made these houses all look like they had cenvenient grain storage attached. Kyle and I tried to explain the rash of silo puns to Meri, who looked at us like we had two heads. Which we do, so it was all good. :)
