Last night we walked over to Mass Ave for dinner and a movie. The fresh pasta place in the same block as the Capitol Theatre was pretty good, definitely worth going again. We saw the Enron movie, which was horrifying and really well done. It was made up of interviews and news footage, and tapes documenting what the people involved really said. There were two moments I particularly liked:

A woman was talking about some Enron employees, and she specified, "that's spelled T-R-A-D-E-R-S."

One detail I thought was especially well done, which was probably the most shocking moment in the movie, was an audio tape of an Enron trader on the phone with someone at a power plant in California. The Enron guy tells the power plant to shut down for a few hours, and the power plant guy agrees, and then they laugh about how they're making all this money. This audio is dubbed over news footage of an ambulance accepting victims of a road accident caused by the traffic signals being non-functional.

Walking home, we passed some people who were setting off fireworks on their front lawn.

Kind of makes me want to be an organic farmer, using windmill and solar energy to live off the grid. Wait, I wanted to do that anyway!

Just because you are paranoid, doesn't mean they aren't out to get you.
