We get the keys to the new apartment in thirteen days and six hours. I can't wait, I'm ready to pack up and move Now.

I can move almost all of my stuff by myself using a car during the day. I'm planning to rent a van for my mattress & futon frame, and the heavy bookshelf if I decide to move it. Unless someone has a better offer -- I mean, suggestion. I could use the help of a burly man or two for moving the mattress.

Other things on the horizon:

Picnic in [some] park on Sunday June 26th. Possibilities include: the spot where we were last year, on Mem Drive by JFK St; Powderhouse park; the ballfields near our new apartment.
Pros and cons:
The Mem Drive spot would be nice for the sake of consistency and tradition, but it's a bitch to find parking along there.
Powderhouse is a pleasant park area, nothing wrong with it that I can think of.
The ballfield, though wonderfully close to home, might already be scheduled for a ballgame, and I'm not sure how to find out.

Also: I will again have a table in ArtBeat on July 16th in Davis Sq. I'll have a lot of the same stuff as last year, but also some new ideas and colors. Please stop by, and tell lots of people about it.

1) Still need boxes? Drop me an e-mail...

2) Call Parks & Recreation Department of Town/City Hall to find out about the ballfield.

We do need boxes! When would be a good time for us to drop by to pick them up? Tonight? Saturday afternoon/evening? Some evening next week?

Is possible. I may ask for them as we pack, but don't hold onto them just for me.

There's a surplus of boxes here as well. Mostly medium packing boxes that have formerly held books.

I have some boxes too, but what might interest you more is the possible use of a pickup truck and driver (Me and/or Sean, as I can now drive the truck no problem.) It might save you the cost of the van, which isn't that huge, but why spent the $ if you don't have to? The "possible" relates to checking schedules with my beloved husband - It's a married thing, but the answer is likely yes. Could we do this in the evening (around, say, 7 p.m.)? What size mattress is in question?

In short, let me know what your specific parameters are.

Oh, that'd be wonderful! I get home from work around 7, and evening would be the perfect time to move my bed. It's a full-size mattress, so approximately 54x75x12. No box spring. I have a mattress-sized plastic bag from last year's move -- though if it happens to be raining, this bag won't sufficiently protect the mattress. The futon frame comes apart into two pieces, which are about 6' long.

If possible, it'd be great to do it on Thursday the 16th -- raindate the next evening? I can also do Wednesday the 15th if that's better for you guys -- only we'd have to start at 8 because I work later Wednesdays.

I didn't move the bed last year (Kyle and a couple of other guys handled it), so I don't know how difficult it is to maneuver. The hardest part will be getting it down the stairs out of this place; the new place will just be a straight shot onto the porch and in the first-floor door.

I am checking the date with Sean...can you assemble a similar team of guys? Sean would be willing to help moving, but since he does fairly physical work all day, it's probably better if we have more people besides the 4 of us to get it moved. It's a small pickup, so there is a chance that we might have to make two trips, but I doubt it. Sean used to work for his family's moving company, and he is amazing at getting things packed up and moved.

Expect many happy kiddies hanging around that day.
