The thing that caught my eye here was how the pipes go through the molding -- makes me wonder what the thought processes were when they installed... the pipes? the molding? Whichever came second. This was at North Bennet St. School (my mom and I went to their open house on Saturday).

Looks like the pipes were run later - and the installers were being lazy. Easier to just punch through wood with a bit, then to route the conduit around.

Among the trades, electricians have a rep for lazy routing of cables & conduit: "Yeah, I put a 3" hole in the chord of that roof truss, what about it?"
