This is one of my two rose plants, which I planted last month. Its first two flowers opened today -- they're small, only about two inches across.

The other plant will have red flowers, but for now it's only starting to bud.

I am going to make Confetti ice cream this year, which has a sweet cream base, flavored with rose water and orange blossom water, and several different bright colors of flower petals torn up into it. I was considering using my own roses (especially since I know they're organic), but we'll see if these flowers last til next week -- and whether the single bud currently on the red one opens in time.

personally I _much_ prefer smaller rose blooms. For some reason, larger flowers just look... wrong to me.

I like roses with lots of petals, doesn't matter what size. But the most important thing is the smell. The nursery I ordered these from said that they'll smell good, but I haven't tested the theory yet. I might be hooked, and next year I'll want to order tea roses and white roses and and and...
