I'm going to go out on a limb (:-)) and suggest either an Eastern Redbud or something related to a Catalpa. Eastern Redbuds were often planted as ornamental trees on front lawns. If it had seed pods scattered around on the ground, then it's quite likely to be something in that family. While it's a bit far north for this tree; if you found it on someone's front lawn, it was planted a while back when planting unusual trees was more common. Catalpa are big, big trees with impressive leaves but the veins are not quite right for a Catalpa leaf.
