The California Academy of Sciences has a "living roof," with wildflowers and strawberries and succulents. It may be the only *intentionally hilly* living roof in existence (the architect was inspired by a nearby natural hill of a similar shape). The round window hatches are opened and closed by a computer that controls the climate inside the museum. Several bee colonies live on this roof, presumably located as far away from the viewing platform as they can be in a 2.6-acre area.
