It looks very much like a candle in a fancy candle holder, but the "wax" is too even for me to feel definite.

It's an artificial heart valve. My grandfather has a valve like this (it's a little over half an inch in diameter) in his aorta, and for some reason he has this replica of it in a glass paperweight on his coffee table.
