Sunday in the Park with Martha

Mark your calendars -- it's the 10th annual picnic by the Charles River!

On June 2nd from noon-ish til dinnertime, we'll be in JFK Park, near the intersection of JFK Street and Memorial Drive. This is the same place we were last year, but different from years previous (as of this writing, there's still a construction site at our old location). The new location is marked on this map.

Bring food and drink, friends and family, picnic blankets, games and puzzles, musical instruments, frisbees and juggling equipment... but also feel free to join us if you're not bringing anything at all!

Please note that Mem Drive is closed to motor vehicles on Sundays in the summer.
I recommend one of these transportation options:
- Red Line to Harvard Square and walk down JFK St to the river -- or
you can take the 66 or 86 bus.
- Park in a garage in Harvard Sq or nearby, and walk down JFK Street toward the river.
- Bike, skate, kayak, or some other non-motorized vehicle.

The raindate of Sunday in the Park is June 9th.

Would love to be there. We'll see what the world is like by early June. ;-)

I cannot make the 2nd, which is a shame, because I would like to hang out with you ever again.

On the other hand, you'd be hosting, from that perspective it is not that much of a loss.

It's true that when I'm hosting my picnic I only get to skim the surfaces of conversations. Soon it'll be warm enough for bike jaunts and sitting by Spy Pond -- we should make a smaller picnic happen!

Making a small picnic happen is easier, in proportion to its smallness.

(I have just manifested an infinite number of 0-attendee picnics this morning, just now.)

I bet you've also had a one-attendee picnic...

Philosophical question: must there be food present (or consumed) for it to qualify as a picnic?

We have had three two-person picnics since we got up this morning: First Breakfast, Second Breakfast, and Early Brunch. Four, if you count the picnic Harold makes, with all nine kinds of pie he likes best (and a very hungry moose and a deserving porcupine).

I'd love to be there, but alas, i won't be near there til the end of the month.
