ask Dr. LJ: picture framing

I'm soliciting any information y'all can give me about local (Cambridge and thereabouts) framing shops. Any stories, positive or negative, would be helpful.

I want to have a mat custom-cut for eight varying-sized photos in one frame.

I want to have some posters mounted on foam-core, or possibly just buy large frames for them.

Suspoid [livejournal.com profile] jim_p has a framing business, have you asked him about it?

I seem to recall that [livejournal.com profile] jim_p does this kind of work.

I've been really pleased with Sebastian's, which is on either First or Second Sts, over by the Cambridgeside Galleria.

-A long time ago, I got some stuff framed at the place in the strip mall in Porter Square. It all came out fine.

-Currently, I'm using Frame Man in Randolph, and they're very very good. Opinionated, but good.

I just cut out a 50% coupon from a local Newton Paper for Corners Framing - I hear they're pretty decent - however pricey.. so 50% sounds good for me - hopefully they're somewhat good - I can let you know....

If you find a good place, can you please let me know? I also have a bunch of pictures and diplomas to frame.

I've had very good luck with Murphy Picture Framing (http://www.google.com/local?hl=en&hs=906&lr=&client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&q=murphy+framing&near=Somerville,+MA&sa=X&oi=locald&radius=0.0&latlng=42387500,-71100000,633132686462875428) in Davis Square. Custom framing only; very reasonable prices. Ms. Murphy is an artist with a great eye. She will take time to help you decide what type of frame would be best for your art.

Ah, excellent: thank you. That's much more fun than driving out to Leominster (twice).

Gah! Ms. Murphy closed about a month ago!

I think I'll try the place next to Games People Play.
