The Copley Place Mall was still dark yesterday afternoon. It was eerily beautiful, with natural light spilling into the mall through various skylights. The mannequins at Barneys looked like something out of science fiction.
mannequins with pointy necks and no heads, back-lit by a Y-shaped white staircase

We saw these somewhere posh in... Cupertino? Valley Fair? somewhere like that recently. They're kind of shark-heads. It's attention-getting, which might be the point. Maybe they last longer since their hairstyles and facial fashions don't go out of style?

I didn't know Barney's was a thing. Then again, I saw my first Bloomingdales in forever this weekend.

No pun intended, I presume?

I've never paid any attention to Barneys. Didn't know Bloomingdale's still existed. I remember an aunt buying me a bubble-gum pink plush bathrobe that said "Bloomingdale's" on it in white embroidery, when I was about six. I never wore the thing -- my tastes have not changed much.
