It's oil for seasoning iron pans. Probably for other purposes too, but that's what I saw someone using it for. And apparently they didn't have corks in 1627, because everywhere I saw bottles of oil, they just had bits of linen for stoppers.

Damn you and your comment-preemption.
I made a dirty martini once with a bit of olive oil and it wasn't half bad. Add some flammable gin and that could be a decent Molotov.
