Paging children of the 80s! (Mostly daughters of the 80s, I guess.)
Remember these?
hair elastics with plastic balls on each end

I loved those! They turned my braids into weapons with just a simple twist of my head. ;)

Ha! I never thought of it that way.

I remember that! That's a kitchen counter! (With some stuff on it.)

Ouch! I could never take these out without snapping my fingers.

I remember these! I could never get them to work in my hair, though.

Yep! I had a couple pairs I really loved.

They're actually REALLY REALLY useful for keeping wires and cables tied up B-)

yes!

[identity profile] 42itous.livejournal.com 2014-04-01 04:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Can you still buy them? The elastic of these is shot.

You can find 'em on Amazon searching for bobble or twinbead ponytail holders.

Tarp bungees? I think I have a dozen or so in the garage. ;)

YES!! And by the time my mom let me grow my hair long enough, they were not nearly as popular/easy to find.

::snerk::

OF COURSE

I remember how happy I was when I could prove to my mom that I didn't need them, that my braids would stay braided by themselves. Pigtails/ponytails were another matter and I had to use the one with the colored balls until I was old enough to buy my own non-balled elastics. I'm amused that I married a man and partnered another who both use those type of elastics even now.

ETA: I hated wearing the balled versions because to me in my pre-teen mind they looked all babyish and silly. I'm not a little girl anymore, Mom!!

I had those as a kid! Yeah! I think I've seen them in Target.

I had those, too.

Not *just* daughters of the '80s. I've never had long hair myself, but my mom sometimes let me do unspeakable things to play with her hair when I was a kid, and those were a common implement.
