While I can't say it gave me restful sleep, Mt. Auburn L&D was good to me. They let you room in and have fold-out chairs for someone to sleep in the room with you and the babies, and they didn't make me deliver in the OR. (Presumably, not having twins, you won't be faced with this difficulty, but a lot of hospitals don't let you have twins in the regular delivery room. It puts them that much closer to the knife, which I didn't want, and fortunately didn't need, either.) I don't suppose your OB is Beth Hardiman? One problem was that the lactation consultants are way overworked so you hardly get to see them.

Maybe you'll deliver on my birthday: Feb 24!

Nope, my OB is Annie Liau. Mt Auburn seems like a really good place, and I'm sure I'll be in good hands there.

We have a doula, so in theory I don't need to rely on Mt Auburn's lactation consultants, but the more advice I can get, the better... in theory.

Oh yeah, my standard breastfeeding advice is to find a b/f book you like and read it now. (early parenting it seems tobe good to do stuff three months ahead of time). And then bring it to the hospital with you.

I recommend "Breastfeeding Made Simple".

i'm sorry i had no idea you guys were expecting; that's great news!

We would love to come back to Portland someday.

We've been pretty subtle about it -- we sorta meant to send email to everyone we know but other things always took priority (for instance, right now my hobby is drinking lots of water and taking iron supplements). We'll send out a big email when the baby is born, I promise. :)
