It's the neighbors' cat. I went into their garage looking for a ladder, determined that I couldn't carry the ladder they have, found a large pet carrier which was sturdy enough to stand on, and used that where the roof overhangs the porch. The cat wasn't happy with the idea of my picking her up, but she did gratefully step onto my shoulders.
